Health function - Herbs

Many natural substances offer support to the various functions of the immune system. For centuries, man has found use for many plant products regarding helping us toward optimal health. Often in past centuries these herbs were taken in powder form, derived directly from the plant. In more modern times these herbal supplements are supplied in capsule or pill form. When evaluating the quality of an herbal supplement, one must remember that a plant (e.g. Echinacea) has many parts including the leaves, stem, branches, and the root. The active ingredient for helping the human body may be in any one of those parts, but is unlikely to be in all of them. Therefore it is important to take an herbal supplement that is standardized and is of high quality, so as to know that you’re getting a product that will have the desired effect. Our supplements are of very high quality, and people often tell us they can actually feel the difference between our product and a similarly named product purchased at a discount store, grocery store, or a pharmacy.

The following is a list of some of the more popular herbal supplements and the body system they support:

  1. Echinacea for immune system support, especially helpful if ill. (Caution, do not take for more than 6 consecutive weeks because after 6 weeks it may actually weaken the immune system. Break for several weeks and then resume.)
  2. For immune support, joint and connective support, and digestive system support The Anti-Aging Store recommends Wobenzym N. It is one of our most popular overall products.
  3. Gingko Biloba- to support the brain function and memory
  4. Grape seed extract for cardiac support and as an anti-oxidant
  5. Pycnogenal, pine bark extract is an anti-oxidant
  6. Green tea extract is an excellent anti-oxidant. It contains polyphenols, strong antioxidants
  7. Co Q 10 is an excellent anti-oxidant and is used for cardiac support, especially in patients on cholesterol medications which deplete CoQ- 10.
  8. Saw Palmetto supports the prostate. Abnormally functioning prostates can cause frequent urination and slowing of the urinary stream.
  9. St John’s Wort supports one’s mood. Depressed mood is present in people with depression. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking St John’s Wort if you take any medications, because St John’s Wort interacts negatively with many popular prescription drugs.
